PDI Instance: I need to set a knowledge base as public in my public portal

Hi All,

Please note that I am trying to make a knowledge base as public so any non authenticated user can access its articles

this is on my PDI Instance

I have gone through a lot of documentations from the community but it cannot seem to get it work

I made all the pages as public - can read ( empty ) etc

i tried " KCS Knowledge Base (demo data) " knowledge base and this one works while i am not logged in but my own created knowledge base or the default ones from OOB do not

I have tried every possible configuration i know or was told to via SN Community but in vain

i get a message no category available when not authenticating ( i verified all widgets used in my portal and pages and made them public ) but when authenticated everything is fine see attached for "not categories available"

I am not sure what else i can try

if some one can point me to the right direction i would appreciate it

I am newbie BTW

Thanks in advance

@NouamanD Please refer to the steps mentioned in this knowledge article https://support.servicenow.com/kb?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0564169

Hi Sandeep,

Thanks for the suggestion but i already went through that before and no success.

If you or any member of this community can share how they set a knowledge base to be accessible by everyone via Portal i would appreciate it

- what are perquisites

- step by step would be helpful as well

Note i followed all instructions provided by this community, and still cannot seem to see the knowledge base via the portal ( it says no categories found for some reason when not authenticated)

All those suggestion to leave can read empty , click on public on widgets an pages are done and checked

Thanks in advance

Hi @NouamanD ,

You must activate the Knowledge Management v3 plugin (com.snc.knowledge3).

Role required: knowledge_manager, knowledge_admin, or admin

Note:

Starting with the Washington DC release, the Knowledge Management v3 homepage (com.snc.knowledge3) is being prepared for deprecation in the future Y release. It is replaced by the Knowledge Management Service Portal (com.snc.knowledge_serviceportal), which is active by default for customers on Madrid and later releases. For more information about the new experience, see Knowledge Management Service Portal homepage features.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to All > Knowledge > Administration > User Criteria Diagnostics.
  2. Click the View knowledge bases accessible to unauthenticated users related link.
  3. Review knowledge bases accessible to unauthenticated users.
  4. (Optional) Restrict unauthenticated users to access a knowledge base by selecting the knowledge base and configuring its access settings.

Hi Sandeep,

Thank you for your reply, as i Said in my first comment, i went through all these suggestions and i still cannot get it to work.

just to point to something:

Starting with the Washington DC release, the Knowledge Management v3 homepage (com.snc.knowledge3) is being prepared for deprecation in the future Y release. It is replaced by the Knowledge Management Service Portal (com.snc.knowledge_serviceportal),"

I am on Xanadu so Knowledge Management v3 homepage is not found to be installed/activated in the plugin area

Again--> I am creating a Public Portal and including Public access to a test kb which has categories and articles in the categories

- everything is Published

- All pages and widgets are Public

when i go to this public portal , i am able to see the Home page and when i click on knowledge bases it routes me to the page but shows me no categories available which is not the case if i am logged in ( it shows every thing as expected

i already tried your steps which i found in this community before and it did not work

Also already followed

mentioned by @Sandeep Rajput  and I am still not able to , like i said before the KCS knowledge base works fine when unauthenticated but when i try my test Knowledge base or OOB Knowledge base it shows me no categories found ( I attached screenshot in my initial question/comment

if you or any member of the community can provide step by step and perquisites for Xanadu release on how to set knowledge base on portal to be public that would be great ( I believe i did everything on my end but i might skip a tiny step that causes this I am not sure )

If there is any suggestion please advise
