We have requirement for that we need to confirm whether out-of-the-box (OOTB) ServiceNow supports searching or filtering Install Base Items on a Complaint Case based on Install Base Characteristic values?
For context:
- The requirement is to identify or filter Install Base Items on a Case using these install base item characteristic values.
Please let us know if this capability is available OOTB

Longer explanation
Based on my experience with the platform, Install Base Items can be related to Cases, including Complaint Cases, but the out of the box user experience does not include native filtering or searching of Install Base Items using characteristic values within the Case form or related lists.
Install Base Item Characteristics are stored separately from the core Install Base Item record and are designed primarily to describe attributes of the product or asset rather than act as indexed search criteria in Case driven processes. OOTB functionality allows you to view characteristics once an Install Base Item is selected, but not to dynamically filter the available Install Base Items on a Case using those characteristic values.
In practice, if you need to identify or filter Install Base Items based on characteristics during Case creation or triage, this usually involves additional configuration. Common approaches I have seen include custom reference qualifiers, scripted filters, UI changes, or alternative data modelling where key characteristic values are surfaced onto the Install Base Item record itself for easier filtering. These approaches move beyond strict OOTB capability.
From an OOTB perspective, the platform does not expose a declarative or configuration only option to achieve this requirement today.
