Add an extra approver tor a RITM & allow RITM's workflow be triggered by this new approver

Hello Network,

I wonder if it is possible to add an extra approver to a RITM and allow the new user to approve or reject the RITM.

In my record, Bonnie's approval was created via workflow. I then added Santosh manually by clicking the "Edit" button. However, even when Santosh approves the RITM, the workflow does not proceed to the next step.

So, my question is: Is it possible to set the new approver to approve the RITM? My first thought is to do something in the workflow, but I am not sure what other configuration I could make besides the "Approval - User" activity in the Workflow Editor.

The idea of approval is "permission from an authorized source"
Its the flow/assignment groups that provide us the token of authorization.
SO what's the business value of someone manually picking their own approver, especially when other official ones exist?
