Adding requested for to variable set

is the requested for variable type able to be added to a variable set? getting this error

The field you’re requesting is out-of-the-box (OOB). Is there any specific reason you want to add it again as a variable?

So if I removed it from my variable set how do I get it on the catalog item form

Create a new variable on your catalog item of type "Requested for".

At the time of checkout of item , you’ll get a pop-up where you can use this.
