AES - Unable to create application – "Failed to create templated object, details: Missing parameter"

Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing a persistent issue when trying to create a new application in both App Engine Studio and Studio in my PDI.

When trying to create a new app in App Engine Studio:

  • I entered "test" as the application name.

  • After clicking Create, I get the following error:

Unable to create this application.
Go back to the create app experience and enter a different scope name.
Details: Failed to create templated object, details: Missing parameter

When trying to create an app from a template:

  • I receive this error:

Template Execution Failure
Cannot decode: java.io.StringReader@4cff862a

When trying to create an app in Studio:

  • I get the same "Failed to create templated object" error unless I choose the Global scope, in which case the creation works

What I’ve tried so far:

  • Used different app names and scope names (simple, lowercase, no spaces or special characters)

  • Cleared browser cache, tried incognito mode, different browsers

  • Fully reset the instance

  • Requested a brand new instance (on Yokohama)

  • Tried using a completely new developer account

Despite all this, I cannot create any application in AES at all – neither from scratch nor from a template.

Thanks in advance,
Louis

Hi @louis-engel

However, I still have a few important questions:

  1. If PDIs are hosted and maintained by ServiceNow, who is responsible when a platform-level feature like app creation suddenly breaks?  ---> Atul Technically, it’s ServiceNow, but since PDI doesn’t come with support, it’s tough to pinpoint a single name.
This issue clearly started just a few days ago – I had no problems creating apps before.

  2. Is this being tracked internally as a known bug, and is there any ETA for a fix?

Atul: From community no one can tell ETA for same, we all can wait only mate.

  1. Where can this issue be officially reported, if not here in the forum?
Because right now, it’s affecting many developers and completely blocks working with scoped applications.

Atul:  As there is no PDI support so no dedicated forum for this, just wait buddy

Hi!
Just doing follow up... I tested here in my PDI and it's working to create new scoped applications. I didn't do anything to solve it. Probably it was some issue on ServiceNow's side but now it's solved. It wasn't necessary request new PDI.
Thank you!
