APIGEE & ServiceNow

I have a client that is interested in using APIGEE as a proposed integration method for handling the ServiceNow API request that they get.

I'm still in the discovery process to understand WHY, but curious if anyone has experience using it with ServiceNow and is open to sharing their experience, tips & tricks, things to know, etc..

Regards,

James

Hi James,

We use Apigee with requests which we make from our SN instances into certain internal resources. This is in place of using a MID server for the same purpose. Apigee has a lot more 'power' behind it to control the data flow. Also for our need we are able to consume existing services easily using Apigee vs MID server route where we would need to do additional configuration. Apigee can also be scaled far easier if the request load increases.

Hi David,

I appreciate the reply. After spending some time with the client and understanding more of the WHY details, using the API middleware tool does make sense architecturally in addressing or relieving potential performance concerns with ServiceNow and as a bridge for multiple internal/external system connections for example.

However, I still have some concerns to work out with the client and curious how you or your organization tackled them; as they relate to security (client is in a highly regulated industry), added troubleshooting complexities, and potential increased dev to prod cycle times and overall control.

Regards,

James
