Applications based on groups?

Is there a way to get SN to display custom applications upon logon based on your group memberships instead of based on roles? My manager wants me to create something whereby when users logon they get applications with modules for each group they are a member of. I tried to work around this request by just using the getMyGroups function to display all INC or REQ and realted queries under one application but he wants there to be different applications for every group.

Sure. I walked into an account 2 years ago where this strategy was leveraged so much the process of adding a group to the system took way longer. Let me quantify that for you. I can usually add a group in 5 to 10 minutes. At this place it was 5 to 10 days (if at all).
Their thinking was that every group should have a role and each of those roles should determine the different modules the group has access to. Thus the "My Group's Incidents" had 98 roles associated with it. But oops... there's 101 teams that need the access.
You should start with roles to grant access to apps, then grant those roles to groups that need the app. FAR less permutations to manage. Trust me!
