Assignment rules on Insert

Hi, 
So I have created multiple assignment rules all with different orders that are actually working when I run them manually.
But I need them to automatically run when a record is inserted. 

Saw some old posts that recommended to create a BR to figure out the assignment group using assignment rules. Is this the way to go. So far what I have tried didn't work on insertion.

Assignment rules works automatically when the assignment condition matches. What do you mean you run them manually, are you using them auto assign the assignment group or anything else? could you elaborate.

They are not running on insert for some reason if they are suppose to. 

By Manual I mean if I go to Assignment Rule Module and update an assignment rules it gives me the option to apply all the assignment rules with a click of a button.

What are you using the Assignment Rule module, to auto route assignment groups?

I don't see any button in PDI as such, even after I submit this record.

the manual thing I talked about is basically a script that appears when you update an assignment rule. 
The problem here is that assignment rule is not applying on insertion of a record
