1. Based on your experience, who creates the stories in Agile development process? It is the product owner or Business analyst or who?

Answer: It varies from company to company or project. In my current organisation, it is the responsibility of the product owner to prepare the stories. However, I have seen companies where it is the business analyst who prepare the stories

2. In the projects that you have handled, did you have single product owner or multiple product owners?

Answer: Again it depends on the size of the project, I have dealt with projects where there was a single product owner. In my current project, there are different product owners working in different product lines like HR, CSM, ITSM etc.

Hi @Suggy

I am a BPC and here is my thoughts:

A story must be created only by a Business Analyst (BA). A Product Owner can enter a very high-level story, but it’s the BA or BPC who will later refine it.

Now, regarding intake — yes, you can use a catalog item, or it might be handled through a weekly refinement call, backlog discussion, or sprint planning meeting to review what’s in the backlog and what can move into a story or sprint.

Hi @Suggy ,

In my project Business Analyst is creating stories and we have 3 different Business analysts - 2 techno functional and 1 pure technical. They are at different places - one is in US/one in France and one is in India.

Hi @Suggy

There can be multiple Product Owners based on the product. For example, in my previous project, we had separate POs for ITSM and ITOM — each handling their respective streams. However, this isn’t a strict standard; it often varies based on the client and their setup.

If the client has a small team, then one person might act as the PO for multiple products. But as a best practice, ideally, one person should own and focus on a single product to effectively fulfill the responsibilities of a Product Owner."
