Can a end user (opened by) update the variables after submission?

Hello,

We have a catalog item with a variable "Start_date" (type=date)

We want the user in "opened by" to be able to update the variable date 5 days before the variable date.

The end-user has no role. We don't want to create any roles.
Has anyone implemented this and can share how this can be achieved?
Thanks,
G

Hello @GB14  it is not possible for end user to change variables after submitting request.

From the native/classic view - the end user does not have access to the view which can show them the variable editor section.

From Portal -  Servicenow OOB widget has made variables read-only after submission.

You have to provide them view changer role in order to access it from the native view and check if variables can be edited or customize the OOB widget. I strongly recommend not customizing anything for just one request.

Edit : Gave an end user view changer role in my PDI and end users can not change anything on requested items(ACL restrictions). so the answer is no to your question.

Please mark this as helpful or accept the solution.

Thanks for your response Veer. Any other options instead of giving roles to update the variable?

hi @GB14  - did you ever figure this out?

an option could be to create a catalog task for the fulfillment team to "review fields with requester" and then on the flow side, do an update on the catalog variables
