Can anyone tell me what is updated by "System"

I have seen records in ServiceNow being updated by a user account named 'System'. But there is no user account as system.
Can you tell me what 'System' is and what is triggering it to make updates to HW Asset records in SNow?

I believe anything comes with OOB is by default given as updated by system and when the records being updated by someone then that value get updated.

After we upgraded to Jakarta, every day the Asset records, is updated by "system" even if it was updated previously by user or integration.

Answer: It was SCCM Integration running everyday without a user account in the "Run As" field. So, it took the "system" as the default name in the updated column.
