I tried using asterisk (*) and dollar sign ($) but no go. That is, no results found. Is this possible or do I need to check with my system admin to get the rights? Thanks.

No, we won't be able to use wild card char and I can't see a way to achieve this.

Arav,
Thanks for the idea. And thanks for confirming that the wildcard character is not allowed in reports. We should get that added in for the next release!
Regardz, Mike.

The global text search documentation points to something similar (see below) but I don't know how this can be applied to a list or report based search.
You may want to open a support case with ServiceNow and see what they come back with.
Thanks,
Arav

Hi @Mike Rivney ,
Can you please try it without using asterisk (*) as in the reports you can directly search for a word and it will give you the result.
For example you need to search all the reports with word "Active" then just write active in the searchbox and click enter. you will get all the results with word active.
Please mark as helpful if this helps.

Hi Hardik2109,
Please see my reply to Arav in this chain. I need to use a wildcard character otherwise I get unintended rows.
Thanks, Mike.
