Checklist customization & restriction

The new Checklist feature from Geneva is awesome! However, we were wondering if there's a way to customize it a little. Like, having another checkbox or a field in addition to the checkbox and the description. So it looks something like this:

Form Generated       N/A option       If this is checked; check table to see if form is completed properly.

System Location     N/A option       Is this populated; can you locate the system in the location that is entered.

Another list                                                                 Some description.

Looks like I can add a field on the checklist item table, but how do I display that on the form checklist section? Please see photos to understand.

Also, all the available checklist templates show up on every form, irrespective of the current table. Even the user and group fields don't seem to make any difference. I've looked at the other threads here in community, but I couldn't find the answer. Can someone please help me out?

Still relevant?

Hi!

It is - in the sense that I'd like to know the answer. But its no longer a requirement at my client.

Hi,

honestly I was not realy sure what u want to achieve here.

The checklist was not working properly before patch 8 (Istanbul) ... so I hope that u get what you need OOB.

The ckecklist now belongs to a user or Group (did not work before) - so u can save a template for this group to be used / reused.

The arrow beside the CHECKBOX tells u if there are any available for you and you also can save a new CL template this way ..

As it is always only a template - u can remove single items if they are not required.

You wanted to have and additional checkbox - beside the checkbox itself to tell that the item is irrelevant?!

As you can move the items also, you could just make a new checkbox saying "Everything below this is N/A" and move those items there ... ?!

Not sure I could help, I was just curious what the question is all about and wondering why you said, that the function is awesome in Geneva as it didn't work there ... 😉

There's a better Checklist option out there - found in the ServiceNow Store - called Checklist Pro.

The problem with the OOB checklists is that they are unreliable, meaning, people can change the content of the checklist item after the fact, add items, delete items, change items.  There's also no guarantee that the same checklist will appear for same situation.  There is no way to restrict who can edit the checklist or when it can be edited (like do you really want people changing checklist responses after the record has been closed).

Enter Checklist Pro.  We built Checklist Pro to solve all those problems and more.  Checklist Pro application administrators can define when checklists get created and associated with records in a table (any table - not just those that extend TASK), when these checklists can be edited, when the associated record is considered "closed" (and thus should prohibit further checklist updates).  We even added the ability to define "Required" checklist items that allow enforcement, thereby preventing a record from closing unless the required items are completed.  We've built convenience Database Views to go with the most common checklist tables, which include TASK, SYSAPPROVAL_APPROVER, CMDB_CI.

They work in the Service Portal as well as in the Classic UI.

They'll work with other Scoped Applications (like HR or SecOps or even custom scoped apps & tables).

For more information contact TyGR LLC or goto our youtube channel to see it in action.

Also - besides the classic Checkbox Item, Checklist Pro allows you to include various data types, including Textbox fields, Date, Integer, Custom Choice Lists and Reference fields.
