Cisco UCS Devices through ServiceNow Discovery .... !

We are attempting to discovery Cisco UCS devices in our network We have credentials that should be local admin on the UCS Manager. As per docs i see we could discover the devices with SNMP & Applicative credentials, So i have added both SNMP V2 & V3 credentials under credential table and validated (test credentials ) the same against UCS IP's and it seems to work.

However when i run dicovery it seems to identify the devices under SSH and throws up an error - Active, couldn't classify: Can't connect SSH, now finished. i tried changing the discovery behaviour to detect SNMP first but still ending up with the same error, it doesnt seems to check with SNMP at all.

Hence would like some help regarding this and also if there is any document for the same.

Error below

HI,

I have seen this issue as well. I updated my SNMP community string properly as well as check if SNMP service is enabled on UCS device or not. UCS should only use SNMP Identity and make sure you have proper classification set up for this. Put OID into proper classification and then specify which additional probes you want.

Thanks,

Hi Ashutosh, thanks you the reply since i am a little new to this i have added the SNMP V2 in our case to the credentials table and validated across a few IPs and seems to work, and snmp as confirmed is enabled across all UCS devices. i also tired a snmp only behaviour schedule separate to discover ucs devices, but that schedule seems to be stuck in starting state for hours finally to be cancelled.

hence is there a note on settings that i need to check from ucs end. and also changes i need to do from Discovery end, it would be greatly appreciated

Hello Ashutosh, would you like to specify more about this?

"UCS should only use SNMP Identity and make sure you have proper classification set up for this. Put OID into proper classification and then specify which additional probes you want."

What do you mean about SNMP Identify only?

for additional probe, what do you mean?

HI,

Acitve Couldnt classify is due to either, 1) You have ACL on UCS from UCS end.

2) You are not using proper classification

3) You dont have SNMP enabled. I strongly believe that you dont have SNMP enabled.

Thanks,
Ashutosh
