Cisco UCS Devices through ServiceNow Discovery .... !

We are attempting to discovery Cisco UCS devices in our network We have credentials that should be local admin on the UCS Manager. As per docs i see we could discover the devices with SNMP & Applicative credentials, So i have added both SNMP V2 & V3 credentials under credential table and validated (test credentials ) the same against UCS IP's and it seems to work.

However when i run dicovery it seems to identify the devices under SSH and throws up an error - Active, couldn't classify: Can't connect SSH, now finished. i tried changing the discovery behaviour to detect SNMP first but still ending up with the same error, it doesnt seems to check with SNMP at all.

Hence would like some help regarding this and also if there is any document for the same.

Error below

Hello vipinven1987, how is going about this thread? have you finished the discovery? How did you do it? I have the same issue, it seems the SNMP clarify doesn't run in the discovery process

I just figured out that if your UCS device is clustered, then the web portal IP will not work for the discover, you need to discover the primary note behind.

you can refer this KB

Hello,

Did you get success in running discovery for cisco-ucs. i am trying to understand the what components get from OOTB discovery and its relationship.

could you please share dependency view of cisco-ucs CI's/componets. like-chassis, server, rack, port, interface, device manager, etc.  And relationships info. plz.

thanks in advance.

Hello,

I was able to get the discovery successfully completed. I used snmp v2 credentials (set and enabled on the device) and applicative credentials for four ucs tables equipment, chassis, blade and rack. The data collected is 90% same as what is mentioned in the documentation for each class. In the discovery all these classes were discovered along with Fabric interconnects classified as IP switch and related to the equipment class. The dependency map is again similar to what is shown in the documentation (Equipment->Switch, Chassis->Blade) This Fabric interconnects of the manager discovered as IP switch is not something I have seen in the documentation.

What I would suggest is try to login to the UCS Manager interface in MID server with the credentials used in applicative credentials and look at the diagrammatic view there of the ucs to get a clear idea of how actually the ucs is structured in your environment(Clustered or not) and then compare the discovered data and relationship/dependency to it.
