Cognos Integration with ServiceNow

Hi All,

Can anyone please suggest me how to integrate Cognos with Servicenow.

We have a requirement to prepare reports in cognos from the data available in ServiceNow. As per my understanding it can be possible through establishing a ODBC

connection between servicenow and cognos. Please share your experiences who have done this integration already.

Any help/advice will be highly appreciated.

On the Cognos side they will be able to download and install the ServiceNow ODBC driver.

1 Overview  

The ServiceNow ODBC driver allows an ODBC client to connect to the ServiceNow platform for reporting. The driver is compliant to version 3.52 of the Microsoft ODBC core API conformance. The ServiceNow ODBC driver uses the ServiceNow web services support for a query-only interface. Because it uses the web services interface, platform-wide access control (ACL) is enforced and data security is in place.

As ServiceNow supply an ODBC driver that is compliant to version 3.52 of the Microsoft ODBC core API conformance, the Cognos Administrators should be able configure a data source that will facilitate the retrieval of data from a ServiceNow instance.

Hi Hemanth,

Have you configured ODBC driver successfully in Cognos.

check it.

Note: Download Service now ODBC drivers at Cognos first then connect it properly i.e. make proper setting and integration for successful connection.

I gave up on the ODBC driver since our Cognos platform runs on Linux.

Has anyone tried the Cognos with XML as a data source?   IBM Cognos Proven Practices: IBM Cognos BI — XML as a Data Source

The ServiceNow XML Web Service (XML Web Service - ServiceNow Wiki)needs to be converted to the IBM Cognos XML format.   Could this be done via   a Scripted Web Service (Scripted Web Services - ServiceNow Wiki)?
