Create a excel file from script

Hi Team,
 
We have a requirement to create excel file from a JSON object which and enable user to download it.
The JSON object is constructed base on complex query so we cannot use OOTB table excel export future.

 Please guide me to any pointers, knowledge on:
How to create an excel file from the script (Using JSON object) and make it downloadable for the user.
