Hi Anubhav,
Desktop notification and push notification are not similar. Desktop notification depends upon the email engine whereas push notification is working through webservices apis.

I always use Live Feed or connect to check whether they are working. If I put the ServiceNow window on another tab or close it, then have someone send me a Live Feed or Connect message, I should get desktop notifications. Same test with Mobile. Have the app running in the background and then someone can message you.
Check to make sure your notification preferences include the notifications you want to receive are ON.

I want to know that how can we check for the desktop notifications for other notifications other than messages like Request approvals, Approved or Rejected request, Additional Comments, Request Closed or cancelled, etc.
