What is the difference between Business Services and IT Service in "CMDB"?

Examples for both would be appreciated.

Thanks,

IT Service may be treated as fundamental for Business Service.

There may be few IT Services that One Business Service Leverages.

Business Service is something you customers leverage and IT Service is like a backend that those Business Services run on.

Hi Andrii,

Thanks for the information. Can you please provide with few examples for both just so its clear.

Cheers,

Mohammed

A Business Service is a Service that is delivered to Business Customers by Business Units. For example delivery of financial services to Customers of a bank, or goods to the Customers of a retail store or an email service to an employee.

A business service may be supported by one or more IT service(s), and in many cases may consist almost entirely of IT services especially where the IT service is directly customer-facing.

For instance an email service(which is a business service) may depend on IT services such as email servers, web servers, and the work to configure the user's account. The said IT services may or may not be made available directly to the user.

Hi Mujtaba,

Can you also help me differentiate with examples between Application vs Business Application. This is another confusion that we are facing.

Thanks a lot for your previous answer.
