Drop down box with a default value: - None -

Hello, here is another question, which some of our developers have faced. I just need to double check.

When creating a drop-down (HTML Select box) menu, the default value "- None -" appears on top of the box.  I am told this is a Service Now default and cannot be overwritten easily.

It kind of doesn't make sense, since it is such a basic function in any HTML editor.  I would like to change that value to read, for instance:  "Please select an item from the list below" .

Is it really that complicated in SN?

Thanks

Amir

I was able to do this.  It may be a little more development work to make the mandatory work.  On the incident for I added a new Choice filed (drop down) and I choose drop down without -- None --.  The default value of Please select an item from the list below.  So there will be some more coding with making it mandatory.

Are you trying to do this on the Service Catalog Item?  If yes are you using the Service Portal?

You can remove the - None - from default value and have you text in default table in field dictionary.

also.try to select below highlighted choice.

Hi there, just wondering if anybody had a solution to this? The problem with default value is that it is that you will ultimately have tables populated with a default value of something that says:

"--This Comment Replaced None--"
