Duplicate Dashboard

Hi all,

How do I enable people to create a duplicate of a Dashboard not owned by them, without them being able to edit that primary Dashboard?

Background information/context:
We have a need for users to create a copy of a "standard" dashboard where they can then edit the layout and add or remove content in a personalised view. They are used to this functionality from Homepages (where it makes a "my..." version when you edit content). However I do not want them to ever edit the main/standard version, so I cannot give them edit rights. The main/standard version will be used by new employees, and once they feel more comfortable they should be allowed to set-up their own version without having to create a new and add everything by hand. There are quite a lot reports on the main version so I don't want to bother people with that issue.

Right now the only way I can give people to do that is to go to the main Homepage, edit that, and then create a dashboard from that. Which of course is not going to work once Homepages will be removed.

I am aware that the actual reports will not be copied, and that is fine. I just want them to be able to edit the layout and add/remove content to enable the view that helps them the best.

Thank you for the help but I know how to create a copy of Dashboard using Duplicate Dashboard UI action on the context menu of Dashboard but my query is some users are not able to see that Duplicate Dashboard button on the context menu. I can see maybe because I have admin rights but the users who do not have admin rights. How they can create duplicate dashboard?

Hi @Pankaj Garg 

You can't, unfortunately, have users with view access duplicate dashboards. Only admins can do that, and I think users with edit permissions.

There are still a few ways to go about this:

1. Duplicate the dashboard that you currently have, and let that duplication to users, along with edit permissions. The con to this is that someone will have to maintain that the duplicate is up-to-date with the original, and not accidentally or not, changed by a user.

2. A BR that creates a duplicate dashboard for the specific user, once that user is created would also work, but I haven't tested this.

3. Maybe a 3rd option would be a custom UI action, that allows the duplication even by non editors. 

Otherwise there's really no obvious way for now to do what you are trying to achieve.
