Element type not editable

From a list view, I am attempting to edit the roles for several published KB articles, but receive an error that it is not editable from a list.  I went to UI Properties and user_roles is not listed as an element type that cannot be edited.  Any thoughts on how I can do this.  I really don't want to open up each KB article.  Thanks!find_real_file.pngfind_real_file.png

This makes me wonder - seems like there might be downside risk enabling this however.
