Email Notification: Condition vs Event

Can anyone please advise me the pro and con of using Condition vs Event (and vice versa) in triggering Email Notification?

It is somewhat a puzzle to me why one wold favor using event from condition and vice-versa.

I also recommend to use condition-based notifications whenever possible. I think it came with Berlin and I loved it from the first moment
There you have everything in one place nicely ordered. No need to A) register an event B) trigger the event C) react on the event.
