Excel cannot open the file

Hello friends,

 

Data exported from ServiceNow in Excel, is giving an error 'Excel cannot be open the file 'filename.xlsx' because the file format or file extension is not valid'. This is happening for selected users however the excel version is exactly the same with other users where the excel file is opening without any error.

 

Also, I've noticed that the system where it's working (excel file is opening properly), suddenly it gives the error and after couple of days it's back to normal i.e., no error while opening the excel file.

 

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Try to export in CSV and then open it through excel. This way file size is smaller when downloaded and for large chunks of data you will be able to download without corrupting the files.

 

In excel we usually face this issue due to the extensions xlsx, try by exporting in CSV.
