Export data from one instance to another - not all comments/worknotes

(Kingston patch3)

Hi guys 🙂

I want to export approx 160 incident with attachments and comments (additional and worknotes) using the "Export > XML"  - function from at filtered view and then import them in another instance using "Import XML".

I have started with 1 incident to see how well it works.

All fields are imported and okay

All attachments are imported and okay

Only 24 out of 45 "additional comments" / "work notes" are imported.. and they are missing in the XML-file...  Why?

Any ideas?

Thanks
Soren

Hi,

To accomplish this and bring over all components correctly, you'll need to not only export the incidents via XML (to grab attachments, etc) but you'll also need to bring over:

sys_history_set

sys_audit

sys_email

and if you're able sys_history_line

so I would add .list to the end of each of those, find the associated records to your incident, and bring those items over.

THEN do the incident XML file last...

Unfortunately HI will tell you either they don't know, refer you to remote services (billable) or refer you to my posts...because I did all that.

We didn't need extra information, we needed what you're asking for. As any normal person would want, haha....the comments, work notes, etc. in appropriate order.

You need to delete your incidents that you have, and export from those tables that I listed above, THEN bring in your incidents and watch it all be in the right order.

Please follow my instructions.

Thanks!

Thank you for enduring the nightmare and eventually solving this for all of us; you'd think it would be part of the XML import/export process to bring in all the relational data, since this is the best practice and pretty much the only way to move data between instances. But then I remind myself that by now, after 5 years of working with SN I should really lower my expectations...In my case, the order of imports was the problem. Importing incidents last is the key.

Priisholm,

If you don't mind, can you mark my actual answer as the Correct one?

Somehow I think you changed it to their response.

Thank you!
