Field decorator is not showing in created incident after deleting the field value

i have created a simple-list modal in the ui builder and feild decorator .When i try to create a new incident the icon is showing in the incident form's configuration item field (icons use: Caller's assigned ci list_). after creating the incident . if i make the configuration item empty and save . i cant able to see the icon that i just created

so you are saying the icon is shown only when Field has value in it and icon is gone when you make it empty and save it?

when iam creating the incidnet icon is there. After creating if i make the field "configuration item" again empty and save.I want to again add the CI then the icon is not appearing

It is a reference field, and the icon will only appear once you fill in the value. This is expected behavior.

so during new creation the icon is there although the field is empty.
Next when you save the record the icon is still there.
Now when you make CI empty -> what's happening currently and what are you expecting to happen?
