field is read only, cant find the rule anywhere

Hello, i have a form where a user needs to be able to edit a field, but the field is read only. i have looked in ui policies etc but cant find out where this rule is put
my form lets say is view2 

but the field thats read only is coming from someplace les

u_view1.u_field

I have been to table1 aswell and here i cant find a readonly rule either.

the users that need to change this field are not in the backend so i cant redirect them to the record sadly, They are all in the portal frontend.

Hi @asd22, the dot-walking field update typically will not work in the client script. How did you want to update it? Directly on the form or via some script?

i just wanted it so they could edit the field and the edit also changed the original field it dotwalked from

Hi @asd22 

As a BPC, it’s not a good practice to update the dot-walk field without going through the actual table. Doing so can create technical debt and may lead to problems.
