Flow Designer: Multiple Approvals in a sequence reset orignial approval to "requested"

Hello,

I am running into what I believe is a bug in flow designer and am looking for solutions to get around it. I have a flow built that is triggered by a catalog item. The first action that is taken in the flow is to send an approval request to the "requested for" manager. After this approval takes place, another approval is sent out to a specific user based on a the selection of a reference field on the catalog intake form. Once the second approval request is sent out the original manager approval is rest to "request".

I have searched other community posts for suggestions but all I have come across is adding in a 30 second wait for condition timer within the flow but this does not solve my issue. Any potential solutions to this issue are much appreciated. Thank you.

I just ran a quick test in my PDI asking for requested by manager approval and then another approval based on a variable I populated on the cat item. I had no issues. Any chance you have some customization affecting your approvals?

It sounds like you're working on a complex approval process, and I can understand wanting to manage the flow effectively. However, I’m curious about the reasoning behind resetting the first manager approval to "requested" after the second approval is initiated. This could potentially create confusion or unintended loops in the approval process.

Instead, you might consider using check conditions within Flow Designer to better control and sequence the approvals. This approach allows you to manage the approval stages more transparently, which ensures that each step is clearly tracked and the end user is informed about the progress—whether an approval is pending, approved, rejected, or canceled, and by whom.
