Form Slush Bucket field causing page to post on popup (Add/Remove Multiple)

There was an issue we observed in form views (not SOW). When using the add/remove multiple popup feature for list fields, we encounter a POST on the page and it will save any changes to the fields made on the form (even when clicking "Cancel" on the popup slush bucket form).
Screenshots are attached, has anyone encountered this before and found a workaround without changing the way the field is defined on the form? We wish to continue using the list field type but it appears this is by design. A HI Case response stated this is out of the box behavior and the only path would be customization (of which we do not have a defined path forward) or submitting an Idea.
