I am not expert in HRSD but sharing few thoughts as general

 

- First need to understand why there is need to customised App?

- Value and efforts

Try to go as OOTB

Use OOTB tables to work / create new table as base.

Use OOTB flow if possible or tweak as per need instead of creating new flow from start.
