How de duplicate tasks are created in CMDB?

I have uploaded a bunch of data into the hardware CI class. I have seen some of the duplicates are filtered and for each record, a de-duplicate task got created. How this is happening? Can anyone explain? Is there any flexibility to change its configuration? Suppose that de-duplicate tasks should create and it should be assigned to a particular group. How this can be achieved?

Hi @kiran115

The de-duplicate task got created due to cmdb remediation rules

You can find them by navigating to Configuration > CMDB Remediations

Also if you want tasks to assign to a particular group, you can do so by creating a workflow and adding it to the rule

@Manmohan K, this shows how to create a new rule and apply it. Currently, there are no Remediation rules but how come a duplicate records task got created in my instance? I wanted to know the process and how it's happening.

When the instance encounters duplicate CIs during identification and reconciliation, it groups each set of duplicate CIs into a de-duplication task for review and remediation.

So whenever a CI is created or updated via Discovery, SCCM or other source that goes through IRE engine, the IRE engine will create de-duplication task if it encounters duplicate CIs
