I want to know if someone is viewing a record I open. So if one tech has an incident open, and I go into the same incident, a information bar would show at the top saying "So and so is also viewing this record". I've seen the simultaneous update alert, and it is great, but I would also like one that shows someone is viewing it before and update is made.

This gets difficult because you don't know whether the user viewed and navigated away, or closed their browser, or their computer crashed, any of which will mean they're not really viewing the record.
But when a user views a record, a "user.view" Event record gets created where Table = the table of the record viewed, and Instance = the sys_id of that record.
There would be some work involved here, but you maybe could do a "Display" Business Rule that queries the sysevent table for a user.view event for the same record created within the last 5 (?) minutes, and does a gs.addInfoMessage() if one is found.

Thanks. We have had a couple people ask about it this week, so I wanted to see what was possible. I think I will try to push people toward the simultaneous update alert.

User Presence Icon:
- ServiceNow includes user presence functionality, which shows the initials or avatars of users actively viewing the same record in the top right corner of the form. This allows you to see who else is viewing the record.
Field Update Icon:
- If another user updates a field while you are viewing the record, an icon (a small orange triangle) will appear to the left of the updated field. This indicates the field was modified by someone else.
