How do you create Workspace without App Engine Studio?

We are not licensed with AES. However, I need to configure Agent Workspace to add more reports, PA, and widgets. But It's very limited. I have tried and installed the ITSM Premium landing page and still limited/protected.

So, I need to create my own Workspace so I can build my own landing page. but I can't figure out how to create Workspace from scratch! Can anyone tell me how I'm suppose to create Workspace without AES?

Hi Sam

It is important to distinguish between the legacy Agent Workspace and the new Next Experience Framework.

The legacy Agent Workspace only allows to edit the landing page.

But in the new Next Experience Framework (see my page Platform: Next Experience || Knowledge & Troubleshooting Resources) you can build complete new Workspaces. And yes you can build a new Workspace from scratch without AES. But this is a lot of work. Instead you could use an existing Configurable Workspace and modify it.

For more information regarding Configurable Workspace please read:

And regarding building from scratch with the new UI Builder you can start your journey at https://community.servicenow.com/community?id=community_article&sys_id=9e2496c8dbc641d0da1999ead3961...

Hi Maik,

I have tried to edit the landing page on the Legacy Agent Workspace but when I activated the landing page, my changes didn't show up on the landing page from the Agent Workspace. I can see the changes only from the UI Builder. I know the Agent Workspace landing page is read only, I created a copy but it didn't work I had the above issue.

Any recommendations on this?

Thanks a lot for the resources.

Hi Sam,

If you're on San Diego I would look at installing the Service Operations Workspace from the store, which is our default workspace for the ITSM products. From there you can create your own landing page variant and/or create more pages.

If you need to create a new workspace, in San Diego you can do it directly from UIB, but in Rome you'd have to use studio.

Hi Brad,

We are on Rome. However, we are going to upgrade to San Diego in Sep-Oct 2022. Do you recommend us wait till we upgrade to San Diego or implement the legacy Agent Workspace now and then migrate it to the Now Experience Workspace?

Also, can you tell me the steps or a link to a guide on how to create workspace from the studio? I don't see the option any more.

Thanks a lot,

Sam
