How to add an external email address to an Incident Communication Recipient List?

Hello everyone,

Does anyone know how to add a simple email address to a recipient list that is not sourced from a User (for example the external email address of a partner company)? As far as I can see the only options are to add internal users directly or through groups. On the Recipient List table there is a choice field 'type', however there is only one choice on this column which is 'Internal users', which seems strange.

We really don't want to go down the route of creating user records for each partner company! It would make sense to use the core_company table for this, but again this does not seem to be possible as the Dynamic condition is still searching for user fields (and the core_company table does not have an 'email' column out of the box).

Any ideas?

Thanks

Charles

I have this same question.  @charlesr did you come up with a workaround aside from creating user records directly?

Hi bhiller, Unfortunately I could find no way to achieve this - it seems as though this is a limitation of the MIM application. The only workaround I could find was to add a group for each external partner, using the Group Email field for the external address, and adding no users to the group. Not ideal but it works. The only issue is that although you can now add the external vendor to the comms template when sending, you can’t add it as a default Group recipient as it seems that only groups with users assigned to it can be added by default! Hope that helps! Charles

How did you make a group email id come up in the TO list of the email from the dynamic recipient list? It seems that only users are accepted. If you have a solution as to how to return a group email, pls help.
