How to copy a role

I am trying to setup the roles in New York instance we have from a Madrid instance we have.  How can I export and import the roles from one instance to another?

Any insight, help, documentation would be wonderful

Im not sure that exporting a role would incur the acls and related records where that role is identified as having a specific function. you would merely get a record with the name and fields of that individual record.

and I would assume this is a custom role otherwise you wouldnt need to copy it so the target instance wouldnt contain these properties.
