Hello

Yes, you can. 

You can use the "Create Task" activity and select the "Private task" table in a workflow associated to and SR in the Service Catalog.

Thanks for replying but this will also create a request right? I only want a private task to be created.

do you have already a catalog form ? if not then create record producer.

you can use record producer here and set the table as "private task".
