How to make a message appear on a catalogue item for a user that doesn't have access to it

What we have discovered is that if a user clicks on a knowledge article, if they click on a link to a catalogue item that they don't have permission to view, the following occurs:

From this, it's not very clear that the user doesn't have permission to view the catalogue item.

Does anyone know how I can include a message so that if a user tries to click on a link to a catalogue item they don't have access to, the message explains very clearly that they don't have the required access?

Hi @matthew_hughes

"If a user doesn’t have access to an item, they should not be able to see it. This can be defined in the user criteria.

Currently, there is a limitation when embedding screenshots directly into a Community post or question. Members may not be able to download the image or zoom in sufficiently to view the details. For better visibility and quicker resolution, you can either:

  • Attach the image as a file so members can download and view it at full resolution, or

  • Embed the image using a larger image size. This needs to be done manually when creating the post.

Hi @Dr Atul G- LNG  How does I find the user criteria? I'm wanting to have a message for all catalogue items, not just one.

Hi @matthew_hughes

Go to Maintain Items and search for the item.

Scroll down, and you will find the related list available.

Is there a way though that we can do it for all catalogue items if a user doesn't have access to the catalogue item?
