What we have discovered is that if a user clicks on a knowledge article, if they click on a link to a catalogue item that they don't have permission to view, the following occurs:
From this, it's not very clear that the user doesn't have permission to view the catalogue item.
Does anyone know how I can include a message so that if a user tries to click on a link to a catalogue item they don't have access to, the message explains very clearly that they don't have the required access?

But, my friend, if the item is not available in the list, the user won’t be able to see or click it, and we don’t need to display a message.
If my response proves useful, please indicate its helpfulness by selecting " Accept as Solution" and " Helpful." This action benefits both the community and me.

@Dr Atul G- LNG If the link is available in a knowledge article, they will be able to click on it, but it won't be clear to them that the catalogue item is not accessible to them if there isn't a message to tell them that.

Aha, I see the case now. I think that’s the issue—users are accessing the direct link instead of going to the catalog page and ordering the item.

This screenshot you got appears when you try to access the item directly. However, in your use case, the user is trying to access the item via a link mentioned in the KB, so this message doesn’t appear
