How to make a refrence field editable

Hello

i have a view where i have a usernumber refrence field.

This field comes from lets say view2. I really want the user to be able to edit this field when the number is wrong. So when the user is in view they can edit the refrence usernumber field, and this change also comes to the view2.

does that make sense?

allowing users to edit dot walked fields is not recommended practice.

If they want to edit then let them navigate to actual record and edit it there if they satisfy the WRITE ACL.
