Sorry, I do not see any purpose of it... If you want to click for example on Thursday, there is only one field and nothing else... it will hold a number. And it is a field/column in a list view. The field type is integer - only number is allowed, you cannot add there for example an email address.
With the Assigned to field, it is a reference field, which means that only existing data can be selected, in this case Users and the pop up is showing the data of that user record.
If you have the number 0, or 1, or 42... when you click on it what do you want to display? An email, user id? It does not make sense or at least I do not see it. 😞
