How to test an Inbound Email Action that creates a Change Request?

Hi,

I am working on creating an Inbound Email Action which creates a CR using the Excel attached to an email. It is being developed on the Developer instance and not on the Production instance. But how will I test it? How can I send an email and to whom to direct that email to test the CR creation?

First enable the inbound properties on your instance , System Properties >> Email Properties .

 

 

You can mention your email in your inbound action "Form" field ( you can select your user id there ) . send an email on your instance with the subject and see if it's creating change request or not. 

I am assuming here you have added some condition on your inbound action , if it's specific to some email then for testing you can add your email in the condition.

Hi Ashirav,

You need to send email to 'dev*****@service-now.com'. Replace * with your dev ID.

 

Enable the inbound properties on your instance , System Properties >> Email Properties.Send an email to above mentioned email with your requirements.

You can check your target field to see whether the record is created or not.

Hi, thanks for replying but its not working. The email address is being said to be wrong. The address I used was devXYZ@service-now.com, my company's instance is XYZ.service-now.com.

Is the address I am sending the email to correct?

it should be XYZ@service-now.com
