iCalendar (.ics) file and email body

I have succeeded in getting an iCalendar attachment (.ics file) on an email message. Now, however, the body of the email is empty. Is there a way to populate the body of the email message AND attach an .ics file on the same email?

Hi Geoff,
As per the email template, Description(u_description) field is mapped with body content. If you update the calendar record with some value in description, you will get some content.

Yes the description is there, but in gmail it is not visible until I open the attachment.
I notice that an email invitation from Outlook to Gmail contains lots of Mime and Base64 encoded material, and gmail displays it beautifully like this:
However, the emails from Service-Now to gmail look very plain with only a downloadable attachment. Using the notification from your update set, here is what it looks like:
Once I download and open the .ics file, then I can see the contents of description:
