Integration From scratch

Hi i would like to know how do i get started for integration concepts to implement end to end use case scenarios...like when to use rest, rest scripted api...when to use inbound and outbound and when to use which methods get,put,post,patch etc and get a clarity about the use cases and understand the use cases like integrations with teams,slack,workday,jira etc .
