Hi Aditya

Please go directly to Exalate and then you can have it make your life easy!

It is a decentralized integration solution, where you can granuarly decide which data will be send over.

You can just use our managed services so we will do all the work.

Hi Aditya,

To start with integrating Jira and ServiceNow, here is the step-by-step process that you can follow:

1. First things first – understand what needs to be integrated:

  • Identify ServiceNow tables that you want to integrate to Jira.
  • For the selected tables, which table properties to be integrated.
  • Identify how deep data sync you are looking for? For example, do you want to sync comments, embedded images, attachments, links, and rich text fields with formatted data.

2. Identify Jira project(s) that will be integrated with ServiceNow:

  • Since ServiceNow does not have a project, the standard practice is to let ServiceNow data sync to single Jira project. As ticket is analyzed, project and ticket type may change in Jira.
  • Understand how this change in Jira will be replicated back to ServiceNow.
  • If there are multiple projects in Jira, then which ServiceNow table property will decide the Jira project.

3. Will it be bi-directional integration? If yes, then what conflict resolution strategy is required?

4. Once integration requirements are clear, you can go ahead and set them up in ServiceNow Integration Hub

(ServiceNow’s out-of-box sync solution). Here is the step-by-step process of setting up Jira – ServiceNow integration. Additionally, here is the video on the same.

5. ServiceNow Integration Hub will be a good fit if you have a technical scripting background and are looking to integrate only basic table properties for small teams. If you lack an extensive scripting background or have more complex requirements (like integrating user mentions, embedded images, links, multiple Jira projects, conflict resolution for medium to large scale), then a different solution, from a commercial 3rd party vendor might be more appropriate.

6. OpsHub Integration Manager (The Community Edition): A ServiceNow-certified integration tool, OpsHub offers a rich UI-based integration platform, with zero scripting, to meet all the complex data integration needs. You can easily integrate ServiceNow with multiple Jira projects or Jira instances, set up conflict resolution, retain data format, links and so on. You may also have a look at the Jira – ServiceNow documentation and a video to learn how OpsHub Integration Manager (OIM) facilitates a bidirectional integration between Jira and ServiceNow.

7. OpsHub Integration Manager (The Commercial Edition): All that Community Edition has got + support.

Hope this is helpful and gives you a way forward on how to approach ServiceNow – Jira integration.

Thanks,

Vishal
