List field not searchable via list layout.

We have a field called affected agency that is a list field referencing the core_company table. When I add it to the list layout the search box below it is grayed out.
It also does not get added to the go to drop down at the top of the form. Is there any way to make it so user can easily search without having to the filter.

There is a known problem in List v2, we cannot search or sort directly on fields that have the field type = LIST in list view. Your quick fix can be to switch to List v3, in V3 it works fine. In List v2 for LIST type fields you can only do search using filters.

Another Reason:One or more of your conditions are duplicated
If you have more or conditions in your breadcrumb then try changing those conditions to is one of.

List v3 has to many risks to it and is not going to be available for new development in the London release.
