making fields in the list view not editable

I have a requirement, 

when ever the fields in the form is readonly, on that time fields in the list view also read only.

I believe you can right-click a column in list view, go to list control and then set 'List Edit Type' to not editable.

 

You can also apply this setting to specific roles, for example an admin should probably be able to edit these regardless of the setting, but I think this will need to be an ACL or some other limiting modification.
