Migrating to Workspaces

Hi Team,

We are still on native UI and access the incidents/changes etc via list view. We heard worksspaces have issues and not matured enough to be adopted yet couple of years back.

Now we are thinking to adopt the workspaces as it seems the way forward and future of ServiceNow.

I am looking for step by step and cost-effective approach to adop the workspaces for our applications. Has anybody done this? How much time it takes? What are the major challenges encountered during the progess?

Help me understand and outline the real time experience which you had please. Thank you

Hi @Khanna Ji

Using Workspace is definitely a big change for both users and fulfillers. In this case, I recommend starting with SOW (Standard OOTB Workspace). Guide the users by taking their feedback and updating or making changes if required.

SOW is easy to use and actually helps improve productivity. Also, the OOTB SOW provides a simple and handy user interface.

Hi,

It depends on alot of factors like how fast is the decision making process from the customer side from requirements gathering, how experienced are your developers with workspace, how many developers, how much customisation you will do. Its entriely different technology from UI 16 and service portal .
Training for UI builder for developers is a must when planning for a workspace implementation.

2 weeks for Requirement gathering and decision making on what is needed, 3 weeks of development time for exprienced developers with basic customisation ( showing/ hiding buttons in workspace). then calculate the UAT time of 2 weeks and go live. So around 6-8 weeks of initial time.

@Khanna Ji

Configurable workspaces are much matured now and many customers have already moved towards it and asking their agents to use that.

Service Operations Workspace (SOW) comes OOTB in instance and adds lot of extra features for Agents and makes their life easier.

You can discuss with your customer and add Workspace lists etc if they want but otherwise it has almost everything for agents to work on INC, PRB, CHG
