MRVS Date Variable requiring different format in Service Operations Workspace view vs Database view.

In the portal, I am populating a catalog item MRVS variable date field (start_date and end_date) with a date (mm-dd-yyyy). When I look at that field in the portal or the platform view I don't get an error:

However, in the Service Optionations Workspace, it is giving an error on just the end date field:

Any idea what would cause this?

any onchange client script on that variable is having validation?

Any variable validation regex is applied to that variable?
