you requirement is on a reference variable you want search using any character lets say if the variable is referencing to sys_user table. if you put a character (let's saying you are looking for Abel tuter) even if you put "bel" Abel tuter should show up right?
follow the steps I have shared the user preference way and replace the incident table with the table that is being referred in the variable
please correct me if my understanding is wrong and explain your requirement in detail
