Need to open a tab in Service Operation Workspace

We have an integration with NICE CXOne to open a blank interaction screen in ServiceNow. However, the interaction is opening in a new window instead of a tab within SOW. Has anyone experienced this and know how to fix it?

We have not made any changes to the OOB SOW. We are using an API to push open the tab/window for the interaction record. When we push to SOW it opens a new window instead of remaining in the SOW window they have open and just opening a new tab.
